I love this, funny and helpful all at once. My inner child wants to do some abstract painting. We started a painting 3 years ago and we're going to finish it today! How's that for public accountability too?! Thanks
I read all the advice I can about coping in a world made for neurotypicals, but nothing really seems to take away the feeling of otherness and being outside of things....and most autistic "communities" are virtual and online which doesn't resonate at all for me...how do people actually manage this feeling, which has made me so lonely all my life????
Hi Melissa, I'm sorry it took so long for me to see this. I had a baby and it's been like falling down the sweetest well... No time to write down there, tho lots of time to think and dream and imagine... I think the only thing that helps is self-compassion and self-understanding, working towards becoming your own best friend and companion. And taking risks with sharing your thoughts and feelings with those around you, finding people you can be weird and/or quiet with, if you would like. I don't know, I definitely haven't sussed it either. But I've made progress sometimes! I wish I had clearer and more directive answers for you. I still struggle with it all the time xx
I’d like to make a dream come true and would be so grateful for your validation. My dream is to start my own workshops for reducing anxiety through investigation of the Natural World. Xxx
Thank you so much for this, I had Ana amazing time in a hammock on holiday in Germany in 2015 - 6 years later I still haven't got my own and have a lead yd wanted one, you've inspired me, and I never knew about autistic inertia, it explains so much, thank you so much for the blog.
Yes! I love this for you! I've recently noticed that telling someone else (accountability buddy, or as my friend says, accountabuddy) helps me so much with just getting shit done on my to do list, but I should definitely extend this to things I actually want to do. Thanks Chel :)
You're welcome, Soph! It was a very special day. And I hope I can repeat the steps and find they work again. I have already heard from two people who found it worked for them too, so that makes me happy.
I understand re autistic inertia. It can be therapeutic sleeping out in nature. Although at times only as a 'lifestyle choice' in summer. Hammock or tent helps, even then the cold starts to bite at 4:00am.

Thanks Simon! Keep me posted on how your hammock dream goes. And let me know if this technique works for you too!

The inner child part really spoke to me. Thank you!
