Post a pic when the tree leafs out. Looks familiar but hard to tell s/ leaves. I live in my house because of the twelve trees out front. They are birch growing in a cluster from a common root below ground. The house had other selling points but the trees did it, and continue to do so 18 years later. We have conversations. I've spent hours sitting in the middle of the cluster just being. They're the guardians and the heralds of this place. I connect with their pulse. They are family. They are timeless and grounded. They bloom with their seasons and remind me to do the same.

There's lots of room for gardening here, another selling point, but I've no time at present unless I make it, so I putter when and where I can. My partner plants flowers. I just planted paw-paw seeds, hoping for some trees and the delicious paw-paw fruit which you cannot find in stores as it is too perishable. My partner calls them "naughty bananas." LOL.

When I was bemoaning getting started on major changes so late in my life, someone in my support group said, "The best time to plant trees was 20 years ago; the 2nd best time is now."

Interesting to read about turning to gardening and nature in sobriety. My mom is an incredible gardener and I want to embrace it. But I find it quite overwhelming. Our yard is very big - too big - and taking care of more than a small piece of it tends to give me a lot of anxiety - so many weeds, so many spaces to fill, so much watering, so much pruning. This will be my first summer not drinking. Perhaps that will give me a new perspective on it. Anyway, thank you for sharing and I love the plan for your garden!
