This week, I wrote about how I want to stop pretending to be a nice neurotypical woman and allow myself to be a nice autistic person instead. By which I mean, I am trying to stop masking so much.
It made me wonder, what does ‘unmasking' mean to you? How is the unmasked version of yourself received, if you reveal it?
What happens when you give yourself permission to be yourself?
You don't have to be 'a nice autistic person' to mask. 'Nice neurotypical women' do it all the time. For self preservation and for public preservation. You have to have massive self belief to unmask.
